Uptown: A Northwest, Washington Photo Series

Although Maryland and Virginia have always been (personally) either too rural or “grey”, the District has always been my creative space. I’ve always had a particular interest in the architecture and culture of Northwest; specifically “Uptown”.

When I can’t find much to do, I pick up my camera or cell-phone and head wherever my interest carries me. Last Sunday, I took several shots in the Uptown region of the city.  My journey started at Columbia Heights and ended on Georgia Ave.

Uptown has always been one of my favorite regions of the city. Several family members live or grew up in the area, and while I only lived in the area for a few years, I always feel a since of nostalgia when visiting Nana or (regretfully) ordering wings & fries from a carryout. It’s home.
